Apple 2.1 iPhone Revamped

Its been eventually one week now since the release of “THE FIX” an update to the Apple inc. new iPhone 2.0 software. The new 2.1 contains a huge list of bug fixes that where reported. Some of the main issues with 2.0+ to this date where several and the list is long. lets go through briefly what fixes where included in the update.

  • Decrease in call set-up failures and dropped calls
  • Significantly better battery life for most users
  • Dramatically reduced time to backup to iTunes
  • Improved email reliability, notably fetching email from POP and Exchange accounts
  • Faster installation of 3rd party applications
  • Fixed bugs causing hangs and crashes for users with lots of third party applications
  • Improved performance in text messaging
  • Faster loading and searching of contacts
  • Improved accuracy of the 3G signal strength display
  • Repeat alert up to two additional times for incoming text messages
  • Option to wipe data after ten failed passcode attempts
  • Genius playlist creation
To go through them one by one from my own 1 week experience.
  • The number of dropped called has increased
  • battery life seems to have become better in the face of apps that include keep alives
  • BACKING UP has become a meager process once again. THANK YOU APPLE
  • not much to say here there have been improvements that are not readaly visable to me.
  • be it g3, wifi, or edge your new great 3rd party apps install like they should in a jiffy
  • improved performance in text messaging ? (does anyone know what they are talking about?)
  • baised on a 2k contact list the search works fine, with the new g3 iPhone performing flawlessly
  • I couldnt say about signal strength.
  • repeat alerts nice, but not a bug fix
  • the wipe option works as intended perfect for the nosy girlfriend that tries to hard? (i dont see the point apple)
  • and a Genius playlist creater to finish this update with somthing glamerous and new.
All in all the update is completely worth it and if your at 2.0 or less i would say go ahead and go for it.
For all you gents that areholding out getting 2.x+ the current winpwn has not been released as of this titme to jailbreak the new firmware on a windows pc. The firmware has been jailbroken on a mac so its only a matter of time for the rest of us.

iPhone Browser Market Share Increasing!

According to the New York Times a market share for the all popular apple creation the iPhone has been getting surprisingly high hits on the major search engins. The iPhone at the time of the data was only at about 2% of the total number of smart phones on the market. Others running different browsers such as Symbian and phones like the blackberry running a flavor of Windows couldn’t account for the traffic serge that the major players like Google, MSN, and Yahoo where seeing during the Christmas season. Early reports said thatjust because of Christmas the stats where higher but those voices where quickly silenced later when the stats showed that the iPhone continuously showed an increase of browsing over all of it’s competitors. The simple browser capability has surly revolutionized the way we will forever more browse the web from a mobile device.
